May Update

From our director, Sue Joyce:

(1 May 2026)

I held a meeting last night and, within the first five minutes I was in tears.

Back in April, I spent three full weeks interviewing people who wanted to work within the N.P.A.A. At the start of last week, I offered positions—and everyone said yes. Then last night we had our very first team meeting on Zoom. As people started joining—smiling, chatting, saying hello—I just felt this huge wave of joy.

I began by saying how important they were to this association. After nearly 15 years of mostly doing this on my own (with friends helping here and there), always dreaming about building something bigger for pigeons… suddenly there they all were, right in front of me, wanting to be part of it. It completely overwhelmed me.

18 people. We have a real team!

Every single person in that meeting was there because they want to see change. Because they want to use their time, their skills, and their energy to help these wonderful little birds who deserve so much better than they currently get.

We spent 90 minutes together with no real agenda—just getting to know each other—and it honestly meant everything.

The team are already getting stuck into new projects—with real enthusiasm and fresh eyes on everything.

The work we’re starting, and the changes we want to make… I can already feel the shift. These ideas aren’t just dreams written on a page anymore—they’re becoming real, and I am so ready for it.

Thank you for being on this journey with us 💚

We have a plan...and it involves a bus...

Can you imagine this…

You’re walking through a town centre, or relaxing at a festival, and you spot a big, brightly coloured bus covered in cartoon pigeons. It’s full of brilliant merch, free pigeon stickers—and a friendly team on board, chatting to people about how and why to care for pigeons.

We can picture it so clearly… and we think it would be AMAZING.

Now we just need to make it happen.

We’re currently looking for a vehicle to turn into our outreach bus, or funding to help us secure one. We’ve even been in discussions with a company that may be able to offer us a vintage bus at a great price—so we’re part of the way there.

Our crowdfunder will be launching later this month, but in the meantime, if you know of anyone who might be interested in sponsoring this project—or if you have any ideas or contacts we should explore—we’d love to hear from you.  Let’s make this a reality 💚
